Altar servers assist the priest or deacon with sincere devotion by carrying the processional cross and candles. They assist in the washing of hands by the priest and the ringing of the bells. This ministry allows the youth of the parish to become involved and contribute to the Liturgy of the Mass by serving others.
Students from the 3rd grade (after the First Holy Communion) and above are invited to participate. A candidate should be: Baptized, at least in the 3rd grade, have already received Holy Communion for the first time, and an active member of the parish community. Servers should be mature enough to understand their responsibilities and carry them out well and with appropriate reverence.
The Altar Server Ministry provides an opportunity for younger parishioners to actively participate in the tradition of Catholic worship.
If you are in 3rd grade or higher and you would like to serve the church in this special ministry, we would love to have you! If you would like to join us, please contact Fr. Michal at [email protected]
