Evangelization is the mission to proclaim Jesus as the Savior of all. It means bringing the Gospel to every person and every situation. Evangelization is directed to those who have never heard the Gospel, those who have heard it and stopped listening, and all searching for truth. Evangelization is not a program or an initiative. Evangelization is a way of being church.
Matthew 11:28-30
Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call upon him whom they have not believed? How can they believe in him whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? ... Thus, faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes from the word of Christ.
Romans 10:13-14, 17
Evangelization – Grace and Vocation by Bishop Serratelli
The parish is pleased to present a project that will hopefully be both productive and rewarding. Jesus told us the road to life passes through a narrow gate and those who find it are few. So, how do we get there, how do we find that “narrow gate” that leads to “everlasting life”?
As the catechism tells us, words are not enough, deeds are required and fortunately, Jesus also told us what we should do - giving us if you will, road signs on how to find that “narrow gate.” For example, BE NICE (do unto others as you would have them do unto you), DON’T JUDGE (Let he who is without sin cast the first stone), HELP OTHERS (It is more blessed to give than to receive).
The parish would like to collect real life examples that will illustrate these road signs. We would then like to publish a pamphlet that will be available next Christmas. Maybe, if we collect enough, instead of a pamphlet, we could publish a book. Can’t you see it now on the NY Times best sellers list, “FINDING THE NARROW GATE” by the Parishioners of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church?!
Nearby are many of these road signs on how to find the narrow gate. Please look them over, reflect on them and if any remind you of a personal experience that exemplifies one, please write it down, a paragraph or two or whatever, and send it in to the parish office or to renn[email protected] - and help us build our pamphlet - or book.
